LED Display Overview
a) A LED display uses light-emitting diodes as a video display. Just like a big TV which can be used both outdoor and indoor.
b) It is widely used in hall, hotel, exhibition room, showcase, square, sculptures, symbols, building etc. Because ofLED display dynamic and constantly
changing, vivid images and videos, live broadcasting, etc many advantages.
c) Nowadays is most popular for advertising purpose and showing purpose.
d) First question before buying a Led display is " where will it be used, Indoor or Outdoor?

LED Pixel Pitch

a) One of the most important knowledge when you buy a Led Display.
b) Pitch stands for distant between the pixels. Example P10 = distance between pixels =10mm.
c) Pixel can exist of more leds. In Full color solution they have 3 leds in 1 pixels (Red Green Blue)
d) Pitch will determine the viewing distance and the resolution. The smaller the pitch the smaller the viewing distance.
e) To determine the right pitch is not easy. First you have to determine the viewing distance before you can choose the pitch. Indoor will mostly have a
small pitch. (P3-P10) because the minimal viewing distance is small. Outdoor will have a bigger pitch. (starting from P10...)

Led Display Resolution

a) Resolution is the basic measurement of how much information a screen shows based on the total number of pixels within the display area and is a
significant factor in determining image quality.
b) The display resolution of Led display device is the number of distinct pixels in each dimension that can be displayed.
c) It is usually quoted as width × height, with the units in pixels: for example, "1024×768" means the width is 1024 pixels and the height is 768 pixels.
d) When the Led Display should display clear text. The resolution is very important (like information displays) Most characters on a information display
should be around 8 leds high and 5 leds width.
e) In order to show a good video effect on led display, it will need total resolution 50,000 pixels at least.

LED Chip Comparison (Nichia, Cree, Silan, Opto, Epistar)
Nichia chip from Japan is best chip but most expensive, Cree chip from USA is also very expensive with good quality, then China Silan chip, Taiwan Opto, and Epistar chip are best cost-effective chip with reasonable price. For LED display advertising, event, information displays purpose, Silan, Opto, and Epistar are normal and enough. Regularly, Opto chip for Red color, Silan chip for Green and Blue color, it is the best collocation.

LED Encapsulation DIP and SMD

Indoor Led Screen: SMD (Surface Mounted Diode) Red Green Blue led chip in one package.
Outdoor Led Screen: DIP (Dual Inline Package) Red Green Blue leds packed separated.
SMD Led Advantages: Big viewing angle, take less space, smooth result from short distance.
DIP Led Advantages: Waterproof, Very high brightness.
SMD Outdoor Type: SMD5050 and SMD3535 SMD3230 are used for Outdoor applications. A high brightness SMD that is waterproof. But still weak against UV. It is not good performance outdoor but will be more developed in the future.

LED Display Module and Cabinet

A Led display is made of many led cabinets and each led cabinet is made of many led modules. Each led module is made of many leds, driver chips, power supply, pcb, etc. LED module size is depends on pixel pitch. For example, pitch10mm, resolution 16pixels high and 16pixels wide, the module size is 160mm x 160mm. And cabinet size is depends on module size.
